I am Erin Wais-Hennen, and this is a little bit more about me...

I am an academic by training turned instructional designer. I made this shift after losing my ability to speak due to a neurological disorder.  I don't see my disability as something that should stop me from working. Instead, it has made me very aware of the UDL practices in the field.  I owe so much to my supportive husband, David Hennen, and our kids Anita and Arthur.  I am working as an instructional designer for New Mexico State University.

I see my role as an instructional designer as an...

educator

I am an educator, first and foremost. I see my new role as a designer as an extension of this role.

Storyteller

I see every training and course that I have ever designed as a story I am trying to tell.

DESIGNEr

I love designing courses just as much as I love teaching them.  I see this as an opportunity to have a larger impact on students.

Researcher

Even as a kid, research has always been a part of my life. As I see it, research is a vital part of being a great instructional designer.
