Here is a sample of the projects I have been involved in over the last five years. For more information on my course design work before my experience in the LDT program, working for GCU, and Webster University, please go here to see my work on the QEP at Lindsey Wilson College.

My Work

Using Animation Video Software Programs: A Training For GCU Faculty

On Demand Picture.png

This project intends to give faculty background in making introductory animated videos, educate them on the uses of this technology in their classrooms, and help them choose the best animation platform for their needs. It is hosted on their private website, and so you can not access it.  So, I have included both screenshots of the actual site with the videos that I created for this training. You can access them by clicking on the buttons to the left.

Using Graphic Design Tools: A Training for GCU Faculty

For this project, I used Vyond, Speechelo, and  Screencast-O-Matic to create a faculty training module for GCU faculty.  This training was aimed to educate faculty on four different types of time management apps.  I also wrote the website script, including relevant images.  I also created an infographic using Venngage to help faculty decide what tool was best to use. You can also see this training adapted for students in Storyline Articulate 360 in the "TRAINING" link provided to the right.

Peer Review In The Technical Writing Classroom

This project entailed meeting a need in my educational classroom.  I selected educating undergraduate technical writing students on the history of peer review, its benefits, and the reality that it will be a part of their life no matter their career choice. I did this through a series of videos using the Doodly program.  I also completed a full Dick and Carey design document for this project. You can access them by clicking on the buttons to the left.

Course Revision: Adding More Tech To The GCU Technical Writing Class

For this project, I was tasked to take a current learning course and infuse it with technology that would help the students learn the material and the teacher teach it, using the four levels of educational technology.  This course also needed a significant amount of updating, and so this was done as well.  You can access this document and the videos by clicking on the buttons to the right.

Competency-Based Learning: Designing A Digital Vyond Badge

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Tim Newby, faculty at Purdue University, to design a digital badge for the Learning Design Technology Program.  It was on the software Vyond and is located in the Passport system at Purdue.  This was a great experience, and I hope to be a part of a team developing badges in assistive communication and Universal Design for Learning in the next few months.

Universal Design for Learning Credentials

I had the opportunity to earn the Universal Design for Learning level one and level two, and I did it through the Learning Designed Organization.  My UDL one credential was seen as a great example, and they will put it on the CAST website as an example for those who intend to create their videos to earn their certification.  Both videos are located to the left.

Videos Created for Courses at Webster

Here are a few videos from courses in which I was the lead instructional designer at Webster University. These videos were only a small part of the course content for the eight week Canvas courses that I re/designed. Creating them required maintaining a good relationship with the faculty SMEs, particularly in creating the appearance and voice tone of the faculty members. It was also a chance to educate faculty on Mayer's Principles of Multimedia Design. See also links to a gamified lesson for an educational research course.
